Flat-Out Fabulous!

S.O.S. = Save Our Soles!
Shoe Week continues with CC’s selections for footwear that goes the extra mile! Every gal needs a few round-toe and a few pointy flats in her closet.

Though Carla Bruni-Sarkozy may be wearing flats to humor her smaller-statured husband (Napoleon complex?), the result is chic and lovely… And – dare we say? – practical!
Flats are even making an appearance on the runway, as at Emporio Armani’s Fall 2008 show, pictured at top right via style.com

All indications point to the inevitability of a butterfly trend for Spring 2009, so get a jump on the trend with these elegant beauties!

J. Crew Lilah tweed flats - simple and sophisticated.
Remember: with a relatively unadorned flat , you can feel free to do some fun DIY embellishment, like adding silk flower brooches to the toes!

So what do you think . . . is it acceptable for ladies to wear flats for evening? Should taller women avoid high heels to humor their boyfriends?

I want those studded ones! Maybe I should get some cheap flats & start to DIY! Mmhmm. I am always in flats because they are so mcuh easier to walk in! But once in a while, heels catch my attention too. But mostly, its just flats!

Words cannot express my delight that flats are finally back. I still remember quite well having to walk 3 miles in heels to a work event in the city. (Parking issues...)

i'm usually bored by flats, but these all have a little special something to make them stand out!

Where can you get those Kalliste studded flats? They are amazing! :)

I remember being the head of the flats brigade ib high school. Haha. Then I got tired of them. Only recently I've been liking flats again.

I think flats are fine for evening. But high heels definitelt make more of a statement.

Flats are great!! They can save your day when you have them in your bag if your heels are mean to your feet!

I have no interest in flats whatsoever!

I love this kind of shoes!!

LOVE the yellow elastic strapped ones! Personally I'll always prefer heels in the evening with fancier clothing but flats are really a godsend throughout the day sometimes! Great choices here CC :)

Thank you for finding so many stunning examples of my favourite type of shoe. Those J. Crew ones made me yearn for ye olden days of vintage shoe clips. I think if the flats are fancy enough they can be worn in the evening...pointy-toed flats look especially sharp with tailored trousers.

Love your EMMY looks on the sidebar :)
Olivia Wilde looks fab.

Flats are wonderful - and they always remind me of Audrey Hepburn.

i love flats - even though heels make your legs look better flats can be so comfy and gorgeous too. I have to say that I am currently wishing for a pair of Lanvin ballet flats.. oh my.

the great thing about fashion right now is that (most) of the rules are out the window.....so if you're feeling like flats, then flats it is!

i love the looks- the women are so classic and beautiful really. the shoes, once again you have out done yourself by posting such amazing things! I like the stud ones, but also the one with the flower (black). You know the more i look at men's shoes the more I am in love because of all the effort that goes into them.

I'm usually not that into flats but love the studded and the paneled gray Chloe's!

Hey CC! How are you darling?
Flats are very cute but they tend to slip off my feet sometimes.
I still wear them though, I have a black pair with a cut-out design and I would love a white pair! I also really like the Kalliste studded ones and Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent pair you featured here!
Thanks so much for the wonderful comment! I'm really glad you liked the post :)
Take care and have a lovely day tomorrow sweetie!

Oh, how I wish I could wear flats! I love them but I am TOO short to wear flats...I need something with a bit of height. Ho, Hum....

Haha I had noticed Carla wearing flats and thought the same thing!

I think flats for evening can look super chic, done properly of course ie a grecian style maxi dress with a bejewelled/metallic flat sandal. Effortless!

And a big no way! to tall girls avoiding heels for their boyfriends.

I'm enjoying this shoe week. In the spirit of loving shoes I did make a bold purchase at ebay (which I will have to talk about when I get them finally). My flats need to be pointy and simple although I'm getting tempted with those jeweled pieces. :)
